DVC Guides

This section is in intended to help advise what you can expect from your system and how you use it.  It does not give full tutorials on using the different programs or hardware; our training material will give you more depth of information, however, it should help you make an informed choice when deciding which system to use.

Although we have tried to put as much information as possible here there is no substitute for seeing it for yourself!  Come to us for a demo and a chat, give us a ring or buy our DVC demonstration DVD for more information.

The DVC guide to HDV

This section introduces the exciting new world of HDV. The new affordable High Definition format that will eventually replace DV.

The Guide to Blu-ray and HD-DVD

The two new formats of high definition disc have been a long time in comping but are at last here - we explain the current state of play of the formats, how footage can be stored on the discs and which are the best programs to use

Which Edit System?

The hardest choice when buying a system is which one to buy!  If we just sold one product we could easily spin any demonstration to say why that one product was better than all the others, but the truth is all systems have good points and bad points.

These pages have general information on the cards and programs we sell at DVC and are intended to help you make a choice.  Of course we would still recommend you phone our sales team at DVC who can offer you more specific advice.

On these pages you will see:

Capture card comparison - a summary of the different cards available and their features.  More detailed information on each card is available in our products section.

Editing program comparison - a summary of each editing program and their strengths and weaknesses.

Edition vs Premiere shoot out - our own DVC review of these two programs based on our own use.

DVC Demo DVD

At DVC we have produced a series of demos which explain the strengths and weaknesses of the different programs and cards available.  You can buy this DVD for £5.00 which covers the cost of postage and packing, or you can watch sections on line from these pages.

How Do You Edit

We have had this section in our guides part of the website for sometime. It explains the process of a basic edit using Adobe Premiere as its example. We have tried to make this a simple introduction for people not acquainted with PC based editing. We have also not updated it for some time as the basic principles have not changed, the programs have added features (like multicamera editing, key framable slow motion etc..) but these are just enhancements to the basic process.

The DVC Brochure also contains some introductory information on digital video editing.
Don't forget you can always talk to us by ringing 01273 707200 . If someone is not available to deal with your call then we will always ring back.
