Our latest custom build laptop, the M870, uses the latest type of Intel processor.  The new laptop uses and Intel i7 Mobile processor - which uses the same type of technology as the desktop i7 processors.  The processors are available in 3 speeds - 1.6Ghz, 1.7Ghz and 2Ghz.  The systems listed below only have the 1.6Ghz processor listed, if you want a quote with a higher speed processor please call.

The i7 processor is a Quad core processor but because it also has another addition called "HyperThreading" it is actually seen as an 8 core processor by the computer.   This is the first time we have had this much power in a laptop computer.

What are the special features of this laptop?

In addition to the high speed processor the laptop can also take two hard drives internally, as well as a DVD or Blu-ray writer.  Since we can now get 7200 RPM 500GB laptop drives, this means you can have a laptop with 1TB of storage on board.  This laptop also has a more powerful graphic card than found in most as well as a full HD screen.

We have tested the laptop with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 & CS5, Grass Valley EDIUS, Sony Vegas and even Avid Media Composer (MC4 & MC5).  It worked well with all the software although we would still recommend that for Media Composer you stick to a validated model.  It also worked fine with the Matrox MX02 range - we tested both the MXO2 Mini and the MX02 LE.
