The Panasonic AF101 is an amazing camera, designed to have the quality and depth of film you can achieve with an SLR but designed for video rather than still images - with decent sound controls and proper video-style interpolation.  The picture quality achievable with this camera is quite frankly amazing, for the price.

The camera does not normally come with a lens, you have to buy this separately - meaning you can choose from a wide range of very high quality lenses. 

It films into AVCHD with a top bit rate of 21Mbs for maximum quality.
