Edius & Edius Neo

Edius Neo is a simplified, low cost version of the popular Canopus Edius editing software. It will edit HD footage using the same Canopus HQ codec that Edius uses to achieve fast real-time playback, but please note that it is not compatible with Canopus' NX and SP boards (which provide HD playback on a proper video monitor).

Neo is, however, available in a bundle with the ACEDVIO card which adds SD analogue output. This bundle is called Edius Neo XL. Neo is also available in a bundle with the FireCoder, a board which provides realtime MPEG2 and MPEG4 output encoding from Edius, as well as being able to capture into these formats.
Unlike the full version of Edius, Edius Neo is Windows Vista certified (the full version is due to be updated in 2008). In addition, the following features are not included in the Neo version:

  • Rendering format cannot be selected (already preset)
  • TC PRESET/mode is fixed
