High costs, complex networks, and the sheer physical size of many video server storage systems have often prevented deployment. Grass Valley™ EDIUS® Workgroup Storage (EWS) is a cost-effective, portable, DHCP connectable storage solution that streamlines workflow. EWS has been designed for small workgroups of six or fewer clients, providing shared network editing for notebooks and desktops without the need for a fibre port. The EWS package includes a fully integrated Media Asset Management (MAM) system for six clients. EDIUS Workgroup Storage is perfect for: - Small production studios
- Outside broadcast production
- Corporate editing facilities
- In-the-field newsgathering
- Live events
- Educational facilities
EWS provides a highly affordable shared storage solution that includes an 8 TB RAID-6 array with Gigabit Ethernet connections for up to six editing clients providing up to 300 MB/s of bandwidth. EWS integrates perfectly with EDIUS multi-format nonlinear editing, and can also provide portable, shared storage for other software environments. EWS connects up to six clients— including laptops—through either its internal Ethernet card or through an external managed switch. The result is a high-performance central storage system optimized for digital content creation and designed to work with any mix of Mac, Windows, or Linux clients. Each EWS can be remotely managed via its Control Console Web interface. Entering the Control Console provides access to network management tools, allowing the EWS ports to be channel bonded or bridged to provide improved performance or to increase client count. The Control Console also allows you to manage project quotas and administer user privileges. EWS is fitted with six Gigabit Ethernet ports to which client workstations can be directly connected. However, for best performance with Gigabit Ethernet clients, we recommend that these ports be channel bonded to a Gigabit Ethernet switch, and client workstations connected to the switch. When used with a switch, these six Gigabit Ethernet ports provide the maximum performance available. |

| | METUS MEDIA ASSET MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE (INCLUDED) In shared editing environments, control and management of audio, video, and other media content is of paramount importance. To support network decisions surrounding ingestion, annotation, cataloguing, storage, security, retrieval, and distribution of mixed content, EWS comes with a fully EDIUS-integrated Media Asset Management system—Metus MAM.
Secure - Tapeless workflows create an easier process for editing within a shared group. However, they also allow simple file movement, duplication, and deletion by one user, which can have a dramatic effect on the rest of the users in the group. Metus MAM will manage and administer users’ permissions and avoid these costly mistakes. Integration – Metus MAM is tightly integrated with EDIUS. MAM control opens within the EDIUS GUI, allowing editors to work directly with the MAM archive. |
