| | FAQ Camera Top Wireless HDMI Video Encoder with 2.4G / 5.8G WiFi, mic input and USB
Frequently Asked Questions Q: Whats the delay on sending video through a Teradek Cube? A: Latency is the delay between the camera, and what ever you are watching your pictures on through the Cube. The latency to a receiver can be set between 70ms (2.5 frames) and 1000ms (25 frames). The more latency you set the smoother the transmitted stream is, because the stream of video is being buffered, but the longer delay this causes might be an issue for video shown live in the same area as a performance.
Q: Whats the difference between 2.4GHZ and 5.8GHZ WiFi? A: The 150 and 250 Cubes have dual band Wifi which means they can use the less crowded Wireless N or 5.8 GHZ frequencies. This means they work better when in an area where there are a lot of different Wifi Networks. Although 5.8 is a less crowded Wifi zone its range is not as good as 2.4 and it can be compromised by walls, trees and other obstacles.
Q: How can I extend the range of a Cube? A: You can get bigger aerials to improve the performance of Wifi. Holdan are currently testing some different combinations and will report back when these tests are complete.
Q: Can I watch or operate the Cube with an iPad or iPhone? A: OPlayer and ZeroConfSpy are 2 Apps which work on the iPad and iPhone. With O Player you can see the video on an iPad with very low latency (if you use just a normal browser the latency can be as much as a few seconds). ZeroConfSpy is a free App which allows you to see and configure the Cubes on an iPad or iPhone. http://cube.teradek.com/training.html
Q: Can I use a Cube with a Canon 5D or 7D? A: When you record video on a Canon 5D the HDMI output drops to 480i resolution so this lower resolution is sent to the Cube. If you are not recording video on the Canon 5D the resolution stays at 1080. The Canon 7D continues to output 1080 through HDMI even when it is recording video.
Q: Are there any updates for my Cube? A: The latest firmware can be found here: http://forum.teamvideocube.com/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=8383716c471919b15b839ae6bd318f8b The latest version as of 22nd July 2011 is 4.6.4r9728. Here are some instructions on how to install it http://vimeo.com/14655522. Please note the Firmware applies to Transmitters and Receivers too. |
