We have tested Avid and will happily support the software. Avid's official policy on systems is that if you buy a system they have tested and supported (normally ones from large manufacturers like HP) they will support you, but if you buy a non-validated system they will not support you. A DVC system is a non-validated system. However, Avid have "relaxed" a bit in recent years and are more amenable to people using non-validated systems. They program has also got a lot better at being compatible with various types of hardware. So a non-validated system is a viable option, and for the money you will recieve a more powerful system than using a validated one. The system will be supported by us at DVC and Avid will also offer assistance via their user forums, so in fact, its pretty much like every other supplier of software and hardware. We would recommend if deciding to buy a device like an AVID Mojo, which has more stringent requirements on the hardware that you do buy an Avid validated system, such as the HP systems listed below. The only problems we have had in the past with Avid and non-validated systems has been in conjunction with Avid hardware. We can install the system using your copy of Avid if you prefer, and can customise the system, supply with or without monitors etc as you prefer. |
